The Data for Development Level One: Foundations Course presents a fundamental overivew of the foundational topics for Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL). Level One is designed to provide an introductory framework that all development professionals should be familiar with, regardless of their role, in order to foster a culture of data use across an organization, program, project, and within their own work. Level One includes seven in-depth modules on the following topics:
- MEL Concepts
- Culture of Data Use
- Data for Development Planning
- Data Quality
- Data Literacty and Use
- Communicating Evidence
- Ethical Data
Level One Learning Objectives
- Facilitate a common data for development terminology
- Contribute to a culture of data use at all levels of an organization and in all roles
- Improve the quality of data generated by development professionals
- Improve the data literacy and communication among development professionals
- Ensure responsible data generation and use at all levels

Level One is targeted at ALL members of an organization, and development actors in all roles. It provides the essential foundations for a culture of data use that everyone can find ways to implement within their work.
